Recent Update: EI Sickness Benefits Increased

The Government of Canada has announced changes to EI sickness benefits. Effective December 18, 2022, EI sickness benefits will be permanently increased to 26 weeks, up from 15 weeks. This will allow individuals who are sick to receive up to 26 weeks of EI sickness benefits to recover.

Individuals who qualify for the sickness benefits will be paid at 55% of their averagely weekly insurable wages, up to a maximum of $638 for 2022. Effective January 2023, the weekly maximum will be increased to $650.
